Arthur L. Weltman, PhD

Scientific Advisor, Kronos Longevity Research Institute

Arthur Weltman is currently a Professor for the Department of Human Services and Department of Medicine at the University of Virginia. He is also Director of the Exercise Physiology Program and the Exercise Physiology Laboratory of the General Clinical Research Center at the University of Virginia. Dr. Weltman has been at the University of Virginia since the 1984/85 academic year. Prior to his arrival, he was on the faculty of the University of Louisville and the University of Colorado. He also served as Director of the USOC Regional Research Site Laboratory at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.

In his roles at the University of Virginia, he is involved in much of the clinical research related to exercise, body composition, regional distribution of body fat, strength, function and balance. He is also a Principal or Co-Investigator on a number of NIH- and industry-supported grants. His current research interests include an examination of the relationship among exercise, body composition, regional distribution of body fat, strength, balance, function and hormones. He has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Applied Physiology and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.

Dr. Weltman received both his doctorate in philosophy and Master of Arts in physical education with a focus on exercise physiology at the University of Michigan. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in physical education from Queens College of the City University of New York.
