Laurence S. Jacobs, MDScientific Advisor, Kronos Longevity Research InstituteLaurence S. Jacobs served as Professor of Medicine Emeritus at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He also served as Senior Physician at the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. Dr. Jacobs was formerly Director of the General Clinic Research Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Jacobs’ bench research focused on mechanisms of exocytosis of growth hormone and prolactin, and on the biochemical composition of GH and PRL secretory granules. His clinical research dealt mainly with studies of pituitary function in health and disease. During his professional career, Dr. Jacobs served as Director of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Fellowship Training Program, Director of Residency Education at Strong Memorial Hospital, Associate Dean for Student Affairs at the University of Rochester (UR) School of Medicine, Councilor of the Alpha Omega Alpha Chapter at UR, Acting Director of the Endocrinology-Metabolism Unit in the Department of Medicine at UR and President of the Association of Clinical Research Center Program Directors. Dr. Jacobs had been on the review boards of multiple journals, many medical school and hospital committees and editorial boards. He was the recipient of Harvard College and University of Rochester School of Medicine scholarships. Dr. Jacobs was also the NIH Research Career Development Awardee and the Teacher of the Year from the Barnes Hospital Medical House Staff. Dr. Jacobs has produced nearly 100 peer-reviewed papers and has published a total of 60 abstracts. He is also a member of the US Administration on Aging (AOA), the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences (AAAS), American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), the American Diabetes Association (ADA), the American Federation for Medical Research (AFMR), the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), the Arts and Sciences Collaboration, Inc. (ASCI), the Central Society for Clinical Research (CSCR), the New York Academy of Science (NYAS), the International Society of Neuroendocrinology and the Endocrine Society. Dr. Jacobs received a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University in 1960 and a doctorate in medicine from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1965. He was an intern and assistant resident at Ward Medical Service at Barnes Hospital under Dr. Carl V. Moore. Dr. Jacobs was a fellow in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. |
