John D. Wintersteen

Chief John D. Wintersteen is Chief of Police for the Paradise Valley Police Department. Prior to joining the PV Police Department, Chief Wintersteen spent 25 years in law enforcement management in Hawaii, Georgia, Virginia and Arizona. Chief Wintersteen received a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California in 1978. He graduated from the FBI National Academy in 1982 (128th Session). For almost 29 years, Chief Wintersteen served in the United States Marine Corps. He is now retired from service.
When he is off duty, Chief Wintersteen works with the youth. For 30 years, he was an adult leader for the Boy Scouts of America and served various volunteer positions with the Girl Scouts of America, Sierra Club, American Red Cross and Special Olympics. He is also actively involved in a variety of national and state-wide professional organizations.
