> Arline Salbe, PhD
Dr. Salbe is a Senior Clinical Research Fellow at Kronos Longevity Research Institute (KLRI). She assists in the development of new research protocols. Her previous research work covered areas as diverse as selenium metabolism, cancer prevention, diabetes, and wasting in HIV disease.
Prior to KLRI, Dr. Salbe was the Research Nutritionist for the National Institutes of Health intramural research program in Phoenix, Arizona. There her work was devoted to the problems of obesity and diabetes in the Native American population indigenous to the Phoenix area.
Before coming to Phoenix, Dr. Salbe served as the Nutrition Research Coordinator for the Cornell Medical College Clinical Research Centers in New York City. In addition, she was also Assistant Professor of Nutrition in Medicine at Cornell.
For her postdoctoral training, Dr. Salbe worked as the Project Manager at the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center in Beltsville, Maryland. She also worked as a Research Associate at Georgetown University School of Medicine and as an Instructor of Nutrition at the New College of California. Other academic honors include NIH Training Grant Recipient, University of California; Scholarship Recipient, American Dietetics Association; and Finalist, AIN Graduate Student Research Awards Competition.
From 1992 to 1995, Dr. Salbe served as President of National Association of GCRC Research Dietitians. She also served as a Consultant for Amylin Pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Salbe received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the City University of New York, Brooklyn College. She received her Masters and PhD degrees in Nutritional Sciences from the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Salbe has written more than 50 original research publications. She is also a Registered Dietician and Human Nutrition Specialist.
