Panayiotis D. Tsitouras, MD
Clinical Director, Kronos Longevity Research InstitutePanayiotis D. Tsitouras is the Clinical Director of the Kronos Longevity Research Institute (KLRI). He supervises the design, regulatory approval, implementation and reporting of studies involving human volunteers and clinical educational activities. Prior to his work at KLRI, Dr. Tsitouras held various administrative, teaching and academic positions, including numerous directorships and supervisory appointments. He was Associate Chief-of-Staff for Geriatrics at the Bronx Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Site Coordinator of the Geriatric Fellowship Program and the Senior Medical Student Rotation in the Department of Geriatrics and Adult Development at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York from 1988 through 1998. Most recently, he was Associate Professor and Director of the Sexual Performance Assessment and Rehabilitation Clinic in the Department of Geriatrics at the University of Arkansas. Following graduation and residency in internal medicine in Washington, DC, Dr. Tsitouras served as a Clinical Associate at the Gerontology Research Center of the National Institute on Aging and an Endocrinology Fellow at the Francis Scott Key campus of the Johns Hopkins Medical School. Dr. Tsitouras' academic appointments include Associate Professorship of Geriatrics and Gerontology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and of Medicine and Geriatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Throughout his career, he has been involved in direct patient care. He served as president and board member of the American Aging Association and the American College of Biomedical Gerontology, and is a frequent speaker at national and international associations, including the American Aging Association, the American Geriatrics Society and the International Congress of Gerontology. He currently sits on the editorial board of AGE Clinical Science and has served as a reviewer for Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism. He has received numerous grants for clinical research in aging and reproduction and has authored more than 20 original research articles and 16 book chapters. His primary research interests include the aging of reproductive systems in men and women, methods of extending the functional life span and interventions that improve quality of life. Dr. Tsitouras received his doctorate in medicine from the National University of Athens. He completed medical school clinical training at Emory University and University of California. |
